Nan is a popular Indian flatbread not only in India but in other countries too. Nan can be served with Daal/lentil or Indian vegetables. Naan/Indian garlic bread recipe is very easy with no yeast needed. The recipe is easy to make at home.
What we need
2 cup all-purpose flour (maida)
1 tsp.baking powder
1/2 tsp.baking soda
1/2 cup warm milk
3 tbsp garlic chopped
How to make
Sieve flour and then combine milk, baking powder, baking soda, salt. Now mix well and keep till it starts giving bubble. Now add milk mixture in flour, add enough water and make a soft elastic dough.Cover with wet cloth and keep in warm place for 4 to 5 hours. You will see dough rising to almost double in size. Now preheat the oven to high temperature and make 6 balls, sprinkle dry flour on board and roll each small ball into an oblong shape, sprinkle garlic and roll again slightly. Cook in the oven till both sides get a light brown spot. When Nan is cooked, apply butter on the top and serve hot.
you can cook naan in gas tandoor. If you want to make plain naan, follow the same recipe but do not use garlic.
